Commentary

Well shoot fans, if you weren't there you missed another great shoot at the Causwell property. Many thanks again to the family for use of the location.

The shoot started at 10:15AM and went smoothly. We had 77% early registrations - thanks all. We know we will be seeing that edging up to 95% before the end of the year. Thanks to the shoot committee for their tremendous efforts behind the scenes.

It was a deceptive course. The birds all seemed simple enough but the 89 HOA score tells the final tale! Rising birds against a hill side looked like they were falling; rabbits running down hill and off into the bushes had to be shot quickly, on edge and the simple enough true pair that had the breakpoint for the crosser dead in line with the incomer - shooters were seen searching through the falling clay for the incomer!

The shootoffs were fun to watch. Words were swallowed and tails curled under as our "up and coming" new shooter shot an "eight wheeler" to be dispatched by the powdering of the first clay by his competitor. Congrats to the winner... and better luck next time BH. We know we'll be seeing you out at the club shooting that high, quartering midi!

Special congratulations as always to our HOA and RUP, Ian Banks and Bobby Chung.

With a win in B class and an "A Class" score of 84, Sleem looks to be joining the big boys next time out? Demshire put up a top class showing in his long deserved C class promotion with a second in class first time out. The talk of the day has got to be Andrew Simpson with an 80 in E class. The man was on fire! He says his training regime involves lots of partying and no shooting... but we hear rumour of a trap at the Simpsons’ home and shooting with silencers to not disturb the neighbourhood! Congrats Andrew; excellent shoot.

The calcutta was another nice touch. A few egos, and pockets, were bruised shooting the edge on "razor thin" outgoing teal. The penny section appreciated the opportunity to cast barbs, in all directions. Funny how the loudest pennies were conspicuously missing at the shooting line!

MAXXIS really put on a good show. The Chinese food was excellent and the cake was a nice touch. Slurred words and mutterings of "if I hadn't drank so much Appleton I would shoot the Calcutta" seemed to indicate a "deep" appreciation for the bar. The trophies were really well done. I for one am looking forward to the MAXXIS Open 2007. Right Geoffrey?

Questions overheard at the tyre display showed some people were definitely surprised at the range of tyres MAXXIS offers. We trust MAXXIS got great mileage for their efforts and support.

Shooters - see you next time at Caymanas Golf Club. With a pool, sundeck and putting green, there is no excuse to not bring the family.
