Commentary

P.W.D hosted an entertaining and well organised shoot. Big thank you's to the P.W.D. club, management and Errol Ziadie for really making the effort to put on a consistently good event.

The journey to P.W.D. was not for the faint of heart but the reward was well worth it - for both shooters and non-shooters alike. The blue skies, blue waters, cool breeze and panoramic views at certain stations made staying there a pleasure.

With a turn out only slightly less than MAXXIS, we are happy to see the momentum returning to the competitive events. Many less frequently seen faces added to the experience of the new course that started from up at the club house.

ONeal and Errol thought they had set an "88" course, and they would have been right if not for the fantastic performances of Geoffrey Ziadie (92) HOA and Shaun Barnes (91) R/UP. Shaun continues to show that his rightful place is top of A class and Geoffrey confirmed his status as one of the top sporting clays shooters in the country.

Greg Chong (88), Ian Banks (85) and Richard Azan (82) were the best A class shooters on the day in a field of eighteen (18) entrants. Special mention of Craig Simpson (82) who was edged out of third by long run. Excellent shooting guys!

B class saw a tie for first resolved by long run with Christian "Puppy" Sasso (83) coming out ahead of Glenroy "Junior" Clarke (82). Richard Ramson (79) rounded out that class. With a second class topping performance from Junior for this year, we wish him a hearty and well deserved "Welcome to A class!" Special mention of Richard Azan Jr. (75) who posted the fourth highest score in B, ending just out of the positions but who maintained his stranglehold on Juniors class with a J first.

Michael Asher (74) followed up his D class win at the last shoot with a C class win at P.W.D. Excellent shooting Mike! Mike Fisher (72) made a good showing his second time out in C class with a C2 while Paul Josephs (71) showed consistency in being top 3 in class. With one class win each this year, Mike Asher and Paul are now in a fight to see who pops up to B class this year!

D class saw the other fine junior performance of Geoffrey Chong (75) being rewarded with D1 and J2 by long run. Welcome to C class Geoff! Robert "Billy" Clarke (58) and Richard Foreman (58) rounded out the small but competitive D class.

Steven Causwell (68) put in a score that would have been just as outstanding in D! Welcome to D Steven; you will have your chance at the next shoot to climb straight up to C with that level of shooting. Evan Thwaites (65) took home E2 and Toni Barnes (62) took home THREE prizes! E third, Ladies first and Junior third! Excellent shooting by Toni who continues in the Barnes tradition of moving forward from strength to strength.

Our ladies class had two other entrants, with Laila Azan (53) taking home second and Christine Cain (52) taking third.

Sub-juniors was hotly contested as well. Chad Ziadie (47) now has back-to-back wins following on his win at MAXXIS. Jacob Zacca (43) was close on his heels and Simon DaCosta (39) was only a few birds off.

For the special P.W.D. hunters class, Chris Read (61) was the clear class winner, with Wayne Chai-Chong (55) second and Gordon Sharp (43) third.

Thanks again to P.W.D. and all the shooters who participated.
Hope to see you all at the Savannah shoot Sunday June 8th.
