2008 Annual General Meeting

Hi Members. Just a reminder that the Annual General meeting will be held at General Accident Insurance Company, 58 Half Way Tree Road, Kingston 5 on Tuesday 29th January 2008 at 6pm.

Please remember that 2008 dues are payable on or before 31 December 2007 and only Full and Life members in good standing can vote at the AGM.

2007 Renewal Process

The Annual Renewal of Firearm Licences, Certificates and Permits commences Monday April 2nd 2007 and continues until Monday April 30th 2007 at all nineteen (19) Police Divisional Headquarters island wide.

Licensed Firearm Holders are asked to visit the Divisional Headquarters of last renewal and present the following for inspection and approval by the Firearm Clerk or Authorized Persons:

•   Firearm(s) (in the case of Holders of Users Licence)
•   Firearm Booklet, Employee Certificate or Permit with 2006 Firearm Licence Fee Certificate attached
•   Completed Request for Renewal Form
•   Proof of current Individual Private Security Regulation Authority Registration (in the case of Private Security     personnel) Original and Photocopy

You may then visit any Tax Office, present your approved Request for Renewal Form and pay the requisite fees. You will then submit your Tax Office Receipt to the Firearm Clerk to complete the process.

A Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC) is NOT required for the Renewal Process.

Note: Persons who are unable to produce the 2006/2007 Licence Fee Certificate will be required to present the following additional documents:

•   2 Recent Passport size photographs
•   Tax Registration Number (TRN) Card Original and photocopy
•   Proof of Age (Birth Certificate or Passport) Original and Photocopy

As of March 21st 2007 Request for Renewal Forms may be collected from the Firearm Clerk at any Police Divisional Headquarter, Firearm Dealer or may be downloaded from our website at http://www.fla.gov.jm/. Form is to be completed in duplicate.

2006 Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Jamaica Skeet Club was held on Wednesday November 15th, 2006 at 7pm at General Accident, 58 HWT Road.

Thirty two (32) members attended. Apologies were tendered for thirteen (13) members.

The clubs' calendar year has been changed to start on 1st January of each year.
The Associate class of membership remains
The current membership fees remain unchanged. This will be reviewed by the new management committee for the new calender year, 2007.

The new executive is:

Morgan, Azan Jnr share Skeet Club honours [Jamaica Observer]

Jamaica Skeet Club president Dennis Morgan took the highest overall honour at Wednesday night's annual awards ceremony for the NEM All Jamaica Shotgun Championship at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston.

It was, however, 12 year old Richard Azan Jnr who hugged the spotlight by walking away with seven trophies to emerge with the top junior tandem after a fantastic run of successes in the junior and E Class events of the NEM Championships that were held in Sligoville from June 15 to 23.

Web site for FireArm Licensing Authority

The new Firearm Licensing Authority has an information filled website; http://www.fla.gov.jm/ Please take special note of all the documents and forms available for download.

The application for new licenses and re-certification of expired licenses requires taking a written test. A Firearm Training Manual has been published to facilitate studying for this test. This manual has valuable information for all firearm holders - especially Chapter 3 on Security Issues and Mindset.

Applications for new firearm licenses are being accepted as of 17th October, 2006.
